My band, the 4onthefloor is playing our CD Release tonight at the Kitty Cat Klub.
It is free.
Our friends Koo Koo Kangaroo, the Evening Rig, & the Alarmists are also playing.
I set up this bill because I am selfish and want to listen to all my friends' amazing bands before we completely exhaust ourselves.
It starts at 8 PM. There will be an easter egg hunt.
You can park anywhere in Dinkytown for free on a Sunday.

Here.
we.
go.

"per tradition, Finn spends the song’s opening vamp thanking the audience. “I know I say this every time, but that’s because it’s true. There is so much joy up here, in what we do!” Whatever magic formula this band has discovered that prevents their music and their fans from succumbing to post-millenial irony and cynicism is precisely the same aesthetic that sends chills down my spine when Finn gets to the word “joy,” despite the fact that I’ve seen and heard him deliver this same line about six times before."

an emo/gusterish type band is currently covering 'ooh la la' by the faces.
it is almost horrible. it is a guitar, a banjo, a ukele, and a bucket/tambourine player.

and i really enjoy it.
it is disjunct and stumbling all over the place.
they are called 'hey, hey marmot'.

goodness.
either i am in a good mood or music is great.
OR BOTH.

soundtracks [Oct. 24th, 2007|01:38 am]

i remember growing up, i used to imagine how amazing it would be to simply think of a song and have it start playing wherever you are. at home, in the grocery store, at the park. i used to dream of it just coming on over the grocery store's page system. but now i dream in high fidelity.
and i mean, it's almost to that point.
if i have my ipod, i can pretty much play whatever song i want, whenever i need it to be.

but imagine if you could control someone else's soundtrack.
sorta like that one will ferrell movie 'stranger than fiction' except that person just hears music.
people could definitely creep me the eff out by playing spooky music every time the lights went out.
but they could also make my day by waking me up to 'here comes the sun' or 'there is a mountain'.

that's all i have to say about that.
i mean, soundtracks, making or ruining someone's day.
they don't have a choice; they just have to sit and listen.
i think it would effect the outcome of anyone's day.
